Sprint Meet Highlights
The Mount Pearl Marlins Sprint Meet that was held this
weekend at the pool in Mount Pearl,
concluded this morning. Teams from
Gander( Gander Lakers Swim Club - GLSC), Carbonear
(Poseidon Swim Club - PSC), Conception Bay South (CBS Bluefins-
CBS), Mount Pearl (Mount Pearl Marlins)and St. John’s (St. John’s Legends -SJL
and Memorial University – MUN)were competing with a total of 186 athletes in
attendance.
Awards were given out for Top Achievers based on placing in individual events, and the Top Team Award was awarded based on
percentage of ‘Best Times’ per team.

Other highlights of the meet this weekend, was the Breaking
of a Provincial Record in the 50 meter Backstroke on Saturday night by Laura
Murray of MPM. Laura broke the old
record of 31.17, set by Kelsey Alexander of SJL last February in Montreal,
with a new time of 31.02. This is
Laura’s fourth Provincial Record broken in the past week. Three records (50, 100 & 400 freestyle) were broken last weekend at the Bell Grand
Prix in Etobicoke, ON.
